Is the glass half full or half empty?

People often use the metaphor of the glass being half full or half empty to talk about positive or negative perceptions.

Is the glass half full or half empty?

While this of course has its place, I was particularly impressed by a re-working of this quote by a client. They said;

The glass is always full, it just depends if you want the glass to be full of air or water

  1. Dear 4G,

    I think your client speaks great wisdom, its amaizing that our perception of the glass being half full is a Positive one, and how it overlooks our ability to make choices.

    There are times when a Half or full glass of Air could save a life, metaphorically speaking.

    Bottom line what I make up is that from the metaphor of the glass being always full, are able to make a choice as to what serves us, whether others beleive it to be positive or negative.

    Yours sincerely

  2. The version I like is:

    To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.

    To the optimist, it is half full.

    To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

    Enjoy.

  3. IMO, the glass is half full AND half empty…nothing wrong with that

  4. Even the empty glass is full of potential.
